Review on Rustproof Grommets by General Tools: Durable and Effective for Various Applications by Brad Schaefer

Good price - Industrial equipment

Good set for this price. Includes everything you need to install grommets except a hammer. The eyelets themselves are of decent quality. Time will tell if they hold up well and don't rust. My package was ajar and most of the contents spilled into the box. Two washers were missing so I didn't get 24 full sockets. I have 22 full sockets. It's not the end of the world. I only needed about 1 for my project and imagine I only need 1 from time to time. Everything works as I imagined. The wooden part is small and not very hard. It is quite difficult to make holes in fabric with a hole punch. I wouldn't say the punch is very sharp, but it works. I've gone through 2 layers of Sunbrella Marine fabric with ease and can see it works with about 4 layers. It's best to use a heavier hammer and a light swing than a light hammer with a heavy swing. I found a 2.5 pound hammer ideal. With this hammer the assembly of the sleeve is not difficult. Just lightly touch a few times, check, touch a few more times, check, lightly touch to press. Don't overdo it with the hammer or the anvil will get stuck in the hub and be difficult to pull out. The puncher appears to be durable enough for over 100 uses. The jack tool seems strong enough for several hundred or more jacks. A piece of hardwood is probably only good for a few dozen cuts. It's okay, I didn't expect it to last long. All in all I would buy it again at this price. I would recommend this for an occasional jack installation for a home user. Not exactly a professional tool, so don't get your hopes up. That's really more for repair than production.
