the value is hard to justify

is used to recut valve cover bolt holes on a 2000 Infiniti G20. This kit has an M6 1.0 thread. The included drill seems to fit the spare spools. be sharp and clean enough to cut (at least in aluminum). No tap handle is included to tap the hole after drilling. (I have a tap and a set of threads but I was short on space so I ended up using a head. It's unusual but I was careful with the angle and it worked fine when threading). The thread insertion tool is the failing of this kit in my opinion. Once you insert a spare spool into a freshly drilled and drilled hole, the thread-inserting tool will jam the shank so much that you can't easily remove the tool! My image is exactly what is left after my installation. even to remove the insertion tool i had to 1. break the shaft, i did it by twisting it back and forth. It's scary, you don't know what part of the spool you might be untangling. 2. Even if the shank is broken, you can't just pull out the insertion tool, it's basically stuck. I managed to finally get the tool out by twisting it counterclockwise and pulling it at the same time. It's scary because you don't know if you can somehow bite off the coil you just inserted and maybe pull it out a bit. I tried to pull it straight up, but the insertion tool handle was already bent too much. At this point, I just kept turning it slowly counterclockwise, pulling out as much as I could. After about 15 minutes of trouble, the tool came out with the spool inserted, although it appeared the spool tilted back a bit during this action. Then I understand why it's so much cheaper. The valve cover bolts are very low torque so that's enough for what I need - as long as I can get the socket tool back! there were long moments of doubt. Having not tried other sizes, I cannot confirm their effectiveness. (Another reviewer mentioned that the M6 insert tool was too big) and it was the only tool I used and I can agree with other reviews. If you can't find the paste tool, then this tool is (generally) useless. I would not recommend using size M6 and have since returned the entire set.

Pros
  • WIDE APPLICATION: Our drill and tap set is ideal for repairing stripped or damaged internal threads, as well as repair work to protect each thread from wear
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
