81 CJ7 360 Howell Injection

I drove 500 miles on an old Mallory Marine style pump and got stuck 500 miles from home. This MSD 2225 brought me home. This is the only place in the US I was able to find and as a Premier member it took me 2 days to get it. I called MSD and Howell Injection to see if they thought they were a good match and they agreed. It's quieter. I have a Mallory 140 Series Comp Canister fuel filter between the tank and the fuel pump. I always use premium fuel, but in the weeks leading up to my trip I filled the tank with about 104 gas. Mallory's Element was only 14 months old and had traveled approximately 2,500 miles. I pulled the element out after installing the MSD pump and it was darkly encrusted at all the creases. I believe this caused my marine pump to fail and because Mallory's marine pump ran out of fuel after 500 miles it got hot and tripped the 30 amp relay! I installed an in-line filter between the fuel pump and throttle body. The pump works very well in the 13-15 psi range. The addition of an in-line filter increased its range to 17-18 psi since the psi pressure is regulated in the throttle body. I have driven 600 miles with this MSD pump so far and am very happy with it. USA, which will now force me to move away from Mallory US (actually Mallory/China) and use MSD products. UPDATE: 10/13/14 A year and a half later, no complaints. he works hard I've driven it 450 non-stop miles (twice) and it continues to perform well.
