I wanted to use my Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 (SM-T813) to troubleshoot network problems on my boat's LAN. The OTG adapter wasn't very expensive and someone said it worked with their Galaxy tablet, so I bought it. It was easy to connect to the tablet's micro-B USB port. I went to the tablet's Connections page and turned off WiFi. I then looked further down the Connections page and clicked on Advanced connection settings. The Ethernet name wasn't grayed out, it was bold! When I plugged the ethernet cable into the LAN switch, the link and activity lights came on! Touching the Ethernet header brought up the Connect to Ethernet radio button, so I checked it. The status has been changed to "Connected". Under the Configure Ethernet Device heading, you can use DHCP or enter a static IP address. This time I decided to use the address provided by DHCP. So the next step was to try browsing the web using Chrome. It worked great! The final step was to go to the Play Store and install the free version of Network Manager. Now I can ping, trace and monitor the local network. This is a very good OTG network adapter! I recommend it to anyone who wants a wired ethernet connection for their Galaxy Tab S2.
