This upgrade seems to have fixed the problem of the belt falling into the water - on my dad's '98 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.8L. I would give five stars but this is not the easiest job in the world. My dad and I did half the work ourselves, we had a Pep Boys mechanic replace part of the tensioner for us because we didn't have a workbench or hoist to unbolt this thing - I think it cost about $50, to do it. 70 dollars. He would have done the top pulley by another 50 or so, but this part was easy to do. The turnbuckle is difficult to access and the mechanic used a hoist and universal tool to remove it. Good luck to those trying at home, it is doable but I think it will take a while and you might drop the nut etc. Now the machine works fine, no noise. I will say that prior to this installation my dad already had a serpentine wrench for tensioning the belt which made it easy - basically a long metal handle with a linkage in it with a socket on the end with no handle to match the tensioner. That makes the job easier. Overall I give this product 4 stars, it solves the problem, but due to the poor design of the engine bay, this is a little pill you can make yourself. A reversible strap is included, so the price is good considering the strap alone will cost around $50. Dodge should have recalled that part and done the job for free. but this is another story.
