Essential for winemakers. They're inexpensive, so keep a few handy.
Works as intended and is essential for home wine making. They show the specific gravity, the sugar content (clumping) and the possible alcohol content. They don't measure the alcohol content for you, you have to calculate it. Serious winemakers already know that. I keep a few of these because I'm clumsy and have a habit of dropping them. Don't expect these things to survive the fall, they won't. They're flimsy and fragile, but with proper handling, they're fine.
