This product does everything I wanted and more. It works much better than the previous one I had as it doesn't turn off until you close the "knife" thermometer. This allows you to set off an alarm, read high or low temperatures, etc. An external thermometer is great for an oven or grill. Best of all, it allows calibration with a simple ice slurry. I haven't tested accuracy at higher temperatures, but will update when I get a chance to confirm a few more readings. There is a slight difference between the outside and inside thermometer, but close enough for what I'm doing.
