Read it. - Exhaust and Emissions

Installed two days ago. When we arrived both hangers were sticking out of the box. It was badly packed. The silencer runs freely in the box. However, he was alive and well. The tips are well packed in their boxes. It says Made in USA, but the chrome tips are from China. It was painful to remove the old muffler - 2008 and it was rusty. Once disconnected it was easy to install. However, I have an OEM exhaust pipe and once this muffler is installed, it is NOT in the middle of the jeep. It is offset about two inches to the passenger side and there is absolutely NO way to adjust it. The tips are angled slightly downward and sit about 2 inches below the bumper. The silencer is installed exactly from left to right. The tips can be adjusted to be slightly inside the bumper or protrude about 1.5 to 2 inches. For the first 20 miles or so there was a horrible smell coming out of the exhaust and a loud rumble inside the jeep. But now it's quiet and sounds nice. The smell is gone. Since some reviews said rust was a problem I used Rustoleum High Temp Primer and paint and painted the muffler about 4 coats each. Time will tell on this matter. You can't really argue for that money. Similar reviews have silencers that cost 3-4 times more. The only downside is that I'd like to have it centered. But maybe it's just my OCD. Would buy again.
