Read all the other 1 star reviews, they all have the same voltage problem. This product is not designed to hold tension securely as the bottom nut is not attached to the hinge. I am replacing an existing spring and it fits perfectly except this item has a bottom nut that is NOT attached to the bottom bracket and does not hold tension. I thought all the other 1 star reviews might have a bad part, but after installing the bottom support nut it won't clamp the mount. At best, the bottom nut needs to be inserted or welded into the bracket to prevent twisting. I contacted Hillman and they said they would investigate. Too bad, because stainless material looks strong, but you have to rework the product, and stainless steel is not that easy to weld. Because it's under very high spring tension, tape or bandages won't help. Safety issue = when used on pool gates to protect children from drowning.
