Review on ThruNite TT20 Rechargeable Flashlight, Momentary-On Tail Switch, High 2526 Lumen Bright Output Turbo Mode, USB C Rechargeable, 258 Meters Beam Distance, For Hunting, Hiking - Desert Tan CW by Justin Munajj

THE GOOD:This flashlight appears to be well constructed, with nice machining & finish. I really like the beam pattern. I first ordered a T2 model, but found it to be too much of a floodlight. The T2 was very good for lighting up rooms indoors, but fell short outdoors.The T20 has a hot center that throws very far, & a nice lower-intensity spread of light. It’s a great compromise since it works both for indoor & outdoor use.There is one additional thing I really like about this flashlight -- that is the continuously variable light intensity. Most of this category of flashlights (such as the T2 & T1S that I kept) have discrete light intensity steps, & of course it's never "exactly" what you would like. On the T20, when you turn it on with the main button, it starts at your last intensity setting. If you push & hold the button again, it ramps up or down & cycles through the range of intensities. Some folks don't like this as it takes 5 or so seconds to go through the complete ramp, but I don't mind this. It's a great feature of this flashlight.THE BAD:Both the T2 that I returned, & the T20 I now have use 21700 batteries that ThruNite claims are 5000 mAh. On two different USB capacity meters I own, both batteries measured in the 4350 mAh range which is well below specifications. I know it’s a small sample size, but is this indicative of the batteries ThruNite ships? I believe the meters to be fairly accurate – I measured the capacity of the 1100 mAh battery in my ThruNite T2S flashlight, & it was better than rated capacity at 1160 mAh.The second bad thing about the T20 is the USB-C charging port – it’s not really USB-C compliant! I’ve gone to mostly owning USB-C devices & have a number of chargers with USB-C connectors & an assortment of cables. None will charge the T20.In order to charge the T-20, you must have a USB-A connector somewhere in the loop. Going from a USB-A charger & a USB-A to USB-C cable such as the one included with the flashlight, it charges just fine. Using a USB-C charger, then a USB-C to USB-A adapter, followed by a USB-A to USB-C cable, it also charges.As a point of reference, both the T2S and T2 I returned also had USB-C charging ports, but these were compliant USB-C as they both charged correctly.
