Works great on a 2013 MacBook Air, but needed a generic driver

Purchased "WEme 2-in-1 USB-C 3 USB 3.0 Hub with Gigabit Ethernet Adapter". as a gift to my friend who just relocated from the PC world and bought a used 2013 MacBook Air with El Capitan. After walking her through the preparatory steps over the phone (connecting to her home Wi-Fi network, connecting Weme to a USB 3.0 port and connecting an external hard drive, setting up Time Machine, etc.), it was time to launch her Laptop to transfer from PC to MacBook Air. However, the USB LAN option does not appear in the network settings. After an hour of trial and error and searching the web, I asked them to download the Universal USB 2.0 Network Adapter here [.] and run the installer from the x86_64 folder. After the necessary reboot, voila: USB 10/100/1000 LAN will appear as an option in the network settings and show as connected. :) Mac Migration Assistant did the trick, and your migration is now underway - and much, much faster than if you were using Wi-Fi. This adapter works like a charm. A Mac does not need a driver to access the USB hub part, as several tested flash drives and a USB 3 external hard drive are recognized and transfer data at very high speeds; and the driver installation mentioned above solved the ethernet related issue. The included USB-C adapter that fits over the USB-3 connector is a nice added bonus (not all manufacturers include it). Great price, good build quality and fast shipping within two days at Revain Prime.
