Review on 🍞 Tojiro Bread Slicer 235mm F-737: Perfectly Slice Your Bread with Precision! by Wendy Harris

Fragile and light

I was a little hesitant about buying this bread knife. It just seemed too good to be true. $20 and with great reviews. Well it was too good to be true. This knife is extremely thin and light (it weighs just over 100g compared to other bread knives like the Victorinox rosewood knife which weighs almost twice as much). The blade has a menacing flexibility. . . the level of flexibility you would expect from a flexible boning knife, but with very brittle steel. It struggled to slice artisanal sourdough bread. It took more strength than I expected. And given the knife's fragility, I was concerned about the safety of this knife if you're trying to stick it in bread. I often use my long bread knife to cut the skin off of melons, but I wouldn't do that. I'm not even thinking of trying that blade. This blade is hidden in the back of one of my kitchen drawers. I can't imagine when or why I'll be using it again, but I don't want to throw it away and risk cutting someone in the trash! Actually, I'm wondering if I can cut the blade with kitchen scissors. I think I can and will try, in which case I will cut it into small pieces and throw it away.

Pros
  • Bread knife
Cons
  • Can hurt
