3/4 inch was the right height for the shelf I was working on. The wood screws are a "tight" match for the new kid's shelf, and the black color matched the bracket (Of course, the knobs are different and longer). Large heads are useful for securing mounting holes. Basically, I've found two good alternatives: one screwed into that Wood (tapered like flat heads) and others hold clamps (big heads). Anything else usually requires washers for support. Generally it would be handy to have them on you. However, the storage box they came in could be better .
