Replacing the drive motor for a previously replaced front driver's side window on a 1999 Honda CRV that was completely dead. Removing the door panel, disconnecting the old engine and installing a new one took several hours, but it was learned along the way. What was interesting to discover after we removed the inner door panel was that the auto shop charging nearly $400 for an OEM replacement in 2008 did not lubricate the lift or other moving parts. Everything was dry. A few days after the first change I went back to the body shop to tell them the glass wasn't working properly and was grinding. They said no, it's fine. This drag was probably due to a lack of lubrication, and that burned out the motor. Now, 11 years later, with this new Dorman engine, we have lubricated the lift and all moving parts. We also applied silicone grease around the rubber. The engine works very well. Much better than the previous car service installation. Honda charged me $578 for an engine swap. About $300 for one part! I would have liked instructions, but I think for the price you would expect too much.
