BUYER ALERT This item is marked as fitting a 1997 Maxima but is not. I recommend pulling out a generator to be replaced and checking its dimensions before purchasing a generator. The hole that the bolt goes through sticks out further on this particular alternator so my bolt can't come out the other way so it won't fit in my car. I had to buy one that protrudes less to allow my bolt to fit through. I've read that Nissan (and I30) seem to have different alternators by year, they are not interchangeable. I have no idea which years go with which. To be honest it's confusing. Some screws are longer, some shorter. Make sure it fits before you screw it up. In terms of reliability, of course I couldn't test if it works, but it seems to be a Hitachi unit, just like OEM, and new. I rely on reliability.
