Review on Gel Shock Super Bag Boxing Gloves For Ringside Training by Ken Ventura

Gel foam is the major design upgrade in this set. Feels virtually zero shock

Practicing martial arts as a student, I have numerous punching bags or training bags. I also have a few different types of gloves depending upon the techniques that I wish to practice (foam sparring gloves, boxing gloves, open fingered MMA gloves, and bag gloves). This is a set of closed boxing gloves that has a unique design. It is made to help reduce injury and fatigue with respect to punching a heavy bag.For a beginner or intermediate level trainer, I find this set of gloves to be excellent, as the hands are not conditioner for heavy bag work. For an advanced or expert, this will help for reducing fatigue on heavy bag work with respect to a barrage of full powered punches against a heavy bag.The design of this set of gloves that sets it apart from the conventional gloves is that it has injected molded gel foam. The foam is exceedingly resilient, soft but firm. Compared to other gloves, it has more shock absorption qualities. The padding extends along the fore-end, back of the fist and the outer margin of the thumb. The advantage is also its disadvantage since it also feels stiffer. Putting on the gloves is a challenge because of the stiffness. It's hard to grasp or even wrap the wrist strap once a hand is placed. My solution is to gently compress and crinkled the straps for an easier way to secure the gloves when one is already installed. If you're at a gym, it is better to be independent of a helper. The outer surface that makes contact is a soft leather that takes time to break in, whereas the palm is a synthetic leather with a small linear vent.Overall it's one of the better designed gloves and gel foam is making its way, finally, from shoes, mattresses and now to the fighting arena.I'd love to see gel foam incorporated into protective gear such as head gear, shin guards, and the like. It may even, hopefully, make it into the design of punching bags and heavy bags, too.

Pros
  • ‎Leather
Cons
  • The gloves are not compatible with hand wraps
