has been installing ethernet over powerline for my son's room for a long time, but the wiring in this house is old and the speed is unusable, the speedtest showed 25MB/s, no faster than our wifi. Connected this to the ethernet switch in my bedroom and couldn't connect. I then checked each other device on the switch one at a time, his Xbox was fine, his desktop was fine, but the Firestick's NIC was not working. When I connected everything to the Switch, I had no connection, but when I unplugged the Firestick adapter, the computer connected directly to the internet at around 650MB/s. 22 times faster than with Powerline. I ended up leaving the powerline adapter setup in his room to power the Firestick as it works better than using Wi-Fi. Easy enough to set up, I wish I had found this back in April 2020 when we were trying to prepare for virtual training.
