This is actually a great system for storing lots of yarn (or whatever). Different compartments help you organize your different strands, while the clear vinyl front panel helps you quickly assess your inventory. In addition, it protects everything from dust, insects, etc., while taking up very little horizontal space. There are two things you need to consider before hitting the buy button: First, you need to provide your own method of hanging this storage system as it does not come with hooks. Additionally, finding hooks that actually work with this system will be difficult. in fact, you might need something else. On the top of this storage system is an additional fabric flap with three grommets that you will most likely use for hanging. So you need to find something thin enough to fit through the holes and then decide how to attach the storage system to something else at least 4 feet off the ground. This is a real weakness in the design of this system. They didn't give you an easy way to hang it, just lay it flat somewhere, which mostly defeats the purpose of saving space. Second, it becomes very heavy when stuffed with yarn. This means that when you figure out how and where you're going to hang it, you'll need to use something very strong to counterbalance the weight. This is definitely not a storage system that can simply be draped off a hanger; You need to make sure you hang it from something that can support its weight without breaking. Another issue is that it can be awkward to move around when full. Between the length and weight, you will most likely prefer going to a storage system to get the yarn rather than collecting it and bringing it to you. As I mentioned at the beginning, this is not necessarily specifically for yarn storage. I could also see this being used for other crafts or even socks and underwear. Overall this is a great storage system that I would recommend for saving space and protecting things like yarn; provided you factor in the issues of deciding how to hang it and the significant weight and size it will be once filled.
