Review on Louise Maelys Embroidery Needles Beginners Needlework by Summer Hendricks

Frustrating but good value

Cute patterns but very boring as only three different stitches are used (straight stitch, purl stitch and french knot). However, I will not limit myself to just using stitches in the pattern. The guide mentioned is so small that I made an enlarged (150%) copy and still had to use a magnifying glass. Splitting a 6-ply thread into a 4-ply thread takes MANY and MANY times, and the (poor?) thread gets tangled. very easy. To top it off, the fabric is incredibly rough and stiff, difficult to work with and makes a popping noise as the needle enters the fabric. I bought alpaca and deer sets. but it still has a problem with the minimum stitch count and hard-to-read instructions. In a white area, the instructions say to use blue thread. And some areas are devoid of instructions. Also, some areas of the deer appear to be "demarcated," but there is no evidence of those areas at all. There are some good kits on Etsy - just a thought?

Pros
  • Embroidery kit includes: 1 piece of fabric with base card, 1 hoop, some thread, some needles and 1 set of instructions.
Cons
  • Doubtful

This was a great gift to a Llama lover.
