Review on Dorman 38640 Tailgate Hinge Kit for Chevrolet / GMC Models - Black Finish by Michael Hall

They bolt right to the back door of my 1998 Chevy. No complaints. But you probably also need a TRUCK kit, which is another problem. I looked at those too, but the short version says you need a welding machine to replace BOTH side hinges on the truck. You can do it yourself if you only want the key side of the truck (as I did and I detail in this review) or if you are an experienced welder. But it would be difficult to replace the counterpart of a rectangular hinge without welding. But THESE fit and work perfectly.
