The durability and value of this kit is beyond doubt. He is strong and well made. I had landing problems. The round side was flared and didn't match the tailgate piece. I had to sand it down and ended up cutting off about 1/8 inch to put it back together. It just wasn't right.

These were great replacement parts for factory outfitting my 1995 K2500. My truck is having some rusting problems from road salt so my brackets need replacing. Some of the bolts holding them were also rusty so I had to cut them out with my flashlights. After everything was fixed they went in really well and my tailgate works like new!

The fork fits my 1998 GMC 2500 perfectly and sits in just the right place. However, the female end was too small to fit in the male part. I was fine with this because I only needed the men's part for the repair, but I was surprised at the lack of fit. The entire repair took less than 20 minutes. Works great now. Excellent price and quality. Also note: This kit does not include screws. Therefore, keep the original screws to complete the repair.

I have a 1998 Chevy Z-71 pickup. I've never seen a back gate just come loose. But the hinges rusted and eventually broke, and I held onto the back door, which was no longer part of the truck. I was almost shocked to find them here and in stock and very happy that the price was under $8. They came right away and when I passed the test to remove the old hinges they went quick and easy and worked great. They are well made and as durable as needed. I am very satisfied and can highly recommend them.

They bolt right to the back door of my 1998 Chevy. No complaints. But you probably also need a TRUCK kit, which is another problem. I looked at those too, but the short version says you need a welding machine to replace BOTH side hinges on the truck. You can do it yourself if you only want the key side of the truck (as I did and I detail in this review) or if you are an experienced welder. But it would be difficult to replace the counterpart of a rectangular hinge without welding. But THESE fit

These parts are made in China to the correct sizes. They fit. Removing existing clamshell cups can be harder than you think. The self-tapping screws that hold the factory cups go into nifty little friction inserts that break off due to corrosion. Once that is the case, you will need a meat grinder. There's no way to get to the back and it won't work to heat. I had to grind off the heads of two screws. Get a coffee grinder with a good burr; wheel does not fit. Prime and paint the hinges a day…

Very easy installation fixed a broken tailgate. I was a bit confused by the photos and the description. This only applies to the driver and passenger side of the truck body. The two parts that attach to the tailgate are sold separately. Luckily, the only fault I had was the driver's side hinge that was mounted to the bed. I agree with another reviewer that it would be nice if 4 screws were included so you don't have to reuse the old ones. Since damage or corrosion are likely the main reasons for replacement, it's not too hard to assume that bolts will also corrode. Living in a northern state that uses salt on the roads, mine were so badly rusted that the back door fell off.
