Practical and inexpensive device for cleaning a bicycle cassette (gear wheel). Designed to remove grit from between gears and at the ends of gears. It's not for very hard dirt, as a mountain bike can get into the dirt where you'll probably want to pre-rinse first. I don't like using it dry as it tends to stick too easily. Spray some WD40 on your floss and you'll find that it cleans better, grips the floss better, and makes it glide better between gears too. With the cartridge stationary, I move the filament back and forth a few times to clear the gear sections. With a slight tug, I can have the cartridge "roll" or index on certain strokes, allowing you to expose different areas for a full 360 degree rotation. One thread cleans the entire cassette - provided you clean consistently between rides. Rinse off heavy soiling beforehand. I also carry one in my bag when I travel in case I need to clean along the way. Happy with this product.
