With the transition to fully synthetic engine oils and drain intervals of up to one year, I decided I needed extra protection for my 2015 Subaru Outback. This oil drain plug is much better than OEM or stock ones because it has a strong magnet. The idea is that any small bits of metal that get into the oil pan will be caught by the magnet to ensure they don't go back into the engine and cause damage. It also comes with the two expander washers you need (one at a time) to ensure a seal against the oil pan. The spare part is in my tool box until the next oil change. I am impressed with the overall quality of this drain plug and its value. The machine work is good and the magnet is strong. Hopefully in a year I'll just take it out, inspect and clean it and then put it back in. Check your metric size requirements to find the right one and it will serve you for years to come.
