Like the bad reviews of the chunky version of this rug, it has a horrible formaldehyde-like smell. I aired it for two days before I could use it, but after a week it still smells a little. Even worse, however, are the two seams where the rug is folded - the cutting knife won't cut through them! There is a tiny piece of uncut fabric that you will need to go back and cut off. What a waste of time! A smell I can tolerate because it fades over time; However, I gave it one star because of the poor design.
