The easiest way to answer questions about this article is like this. It works but has flaws and I've seen other reviewers point this out. But I decided to order the product and try it out. Plugged in, connected the supplied cables to the PC and Mac. The first thing I noticed was that I kept getting disconnected. It seems that this happens after the slightest touch on the device. When I held the switch, we were generally fine. I figured using a micro USB cable for extra power would help. Maybe a little, but it still didn't matter much. So far I've endured it for the week I've had it. Then today I found an extra USB-A to USB-A cable like the one they give you and plugged it in. Like magic it worked all the time and no disconnects since I made the change. So my hypothesis is that the USB-A cables they ship with this device are hot junk and there's a good chance you'll need to replace them at some point to make it usable. Luckily I already had one. I hope you don't need that luck.
