I have purchased several smart dimmers and smart switches for various one and three position switches in my home. Installing a single switch is fairly easy, but three position switches require a little extra work. It is best to read and follow the printed instructions inside to install a 3 position switch, otherwise there is a risk that the smart switch/dimmer will only work when the other normal switch is on. Looks like someone commented that the 3 position switch doesn't always work for them. I suspect they didn't read or follow the installation instructions for the 3 position switch, so it only works when the normal switch is in a specific position.
