Review on MakerBot Filament Diameter Large Spool by Darrin Parasson

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Difficult to process with

So after many failed attempts I finally started getting good prints with this filament.1. I rewound the entire reel to improve winding. It is badly wound on the spool.2. I had to use a heated dry box to "prepare" this filament for use.3. I usually use a glass bed that never needs help to glue the thread. I had to coat my glass print bed with hairspray to get it to stick properly (Garnier Hair Care Fructis Style Volume Anti-Humidity Hairspray)4. I set the extruder temperature to 230 degrees Celsius. If it's less, it won't melt fast enough, causing buckling. The product description lists a higher operating temperature (230), but the Makerbot documentation lists 215 on the same list, which caused a lot of jams. If the printer prints correctly, then great. It's smooth and fantastically shaped in white. However, I've ruined more of this yarn with bad prints than any other yarn I've bought (including brands I've never heard of). As this is my first spool of Makerbot filament, I don't know if what is listed here (or what I received) is genuine or not. Anyway I won't be ordering more because I don't want to spend another €40 or so.
