Review on Extech MN35 Digital Mini MultiMeter by Darren Cole

Revainrating 4 out of 5

All the features you could want at a very reasonable price

I've owned it for a few years and thought I'd give it a try. I paid $15-$20 for it, not bad. I've used it for everything from watches, small appliances, power troubleshooting to battery testing. I need a thermocouple to measure the temperature, I was about to buy one and found that it fits. It took me 30 minutes to find the sensor but it works. It has served me well over the years as an amateur, but there are some downsides. If I use it more often, I would get a better one. Pros - Inexpensive - Easy to read display - Has features of more expensive models - Protective case Constemp - Sensor is very cheap - 1.5V batteries will not test properly unless set to 9V Every power supply (wall) I tested measured 124 to 125 V. I suspect that the calibration has gone astray. If I did more electrical work I would get a better and more accurate gauge. Power cable and temperature sensor connectors are not clearly marked on the meter. Don't mix them or you'll fry it!

Pros
  • High marks for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Negative impression
