Review on πŸ”§ WARN 101575 Handheld Portable Drill Winch: 40 Ft Synthetic Rope, 750 lbs Pulling Capacity - Gray by Raji Bentz

Great for one time use but weak driveshaft limits life

I have the 500lb version. First the good: This thing is lightweight, portable, and powerful. For those who think it's too weak - add a locking and lifting system and this 500 lb winch becomes a 2000 lb winch. Combined with a 4:1 block and a hoist, tree straps and a 6 foot pry bar, I was able to easily move half a dozen wheelbarrow sized boulders across my steep yard. Cons: When you pull full force, your drill puts pretty good torque on the 5/16-inch hex winch driveshaft. Unfortunately, this shaft will bend and break over time due to metal fatigue. When this first happened to me I figured it was an accident and maybe my fault. To their credit Warn sent me a replacement under warranty. I was very careful with the second one, but now it broke just as well. Unfair criticism: other reviewers complain that it's too slow, but school physics shows it isn't Blame the winch time = force * displacement / power $$$ motorized winch All in all it's a pretty good winch, be disappointed if you try to move heavy objects from time to time.

Pros
  • This is amazing
Cons
  • I don't like it everything is fine
