I'm an IT architect and used to designing data centers and this switch brings data center quality to the home. It's much larger than the equivalent 8-port smart switch and has a permanent fan, which also makes it louder. But the web interface is excellent and offers endless customization and security options. Or you can just plug everything in, go through a simple setup process, and let the Switch do the rest. My configuration supports a combination of 100MB and 1GB devices, multiple Power over Ethernet security cameras, and a network storage server with an attached Ethernet connection for redundancy.
