Review on ๐Ÿด HIC Harold Import Co. Dexter-Russell All-Purpose Fork, 10-1/2", USA-Made Stainless Steel with Walnut Handle by Natasha Gibson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

I'm going to be a Dexter Russell spatula junkie!

I'm so glad I found Dexter-Russell Spatulas recently! I already had a 5-1/2" spatula/turner and it's fantastic. We decided a large pan was better for pancakes so I bought this large 8" version. Husband claims it is the perfect tool for a cast iron skillet, and I suspect a grill too. We've already found that plastic and nylon spatulas never feel thin enough to handle pancakes properly, plus they weren't just bad for us, they were bad for cast iron as well since they could melt. So no plastic spatulas! Since we've also abandoned chemical-based non-stick coatings in favor of stainless steel and (properly aged) cast iron, metal tools were a logical next step for us. The metal blade is thin enough to get between the food and the cooking surface glide. , and has little flexibility. The corners are rounded to protect the cast iron spice from scratches and dents. The stainless steel blade is gl Att and largely non-stick coated. I have a suggestion for you if you find your beautiful wooden handle a little rough: Wipe the handle vigorously with a piece of brown paper bag. A grocery bag is ideal, but when availability is limited I use a light lunch bag or even a heavy paper towel. Believe it or not, the paper acts like very fine sandpaper, smoothing out small rough edges to a silky smooth finish. Then I rub the handle lightly with mineral oil and remove the excess. The oil helps the handle repel moisture and prevents the wood from drying out. Repeat this process from time to time to keep the tree looking and feeling good! Avoid washing your wooden or wooden-handled cooking utensils in the dishwasher, as this will dry out the wood, even when the heat dryer is off. Hand washing is recommended and the excellent quality of the stainless steel used on this item makes cleaning very easy!
