Some reviews indicate they had to add extra spacers to raise the door/box/bed roof. Looking at their photos I see they are installed upside down. Here's the ticket: Install the gas end at the swivel and the tip. Open the door/lid where you want it to open fully. Install a 10mm top bracket 6-8 inches from the end of the door/top hinge. Install the gas end of the strut onto the 10mm ball of the top bracket. Then attach the bottom bracket to the base (drawer/bed) where the other end of the rack goes. So the gas pressure is pushing up towards the hinges and not out like if you installed them upside down. UPDATE: It's been almost two years and over two thousand cycles and these are still going strong as the day I put them in my 75lb open door shed.
