Styrofoam? Really?!

If you want powerful magnets, and you're happy with having to come back to this product page for any information/instructions/guidance you might need, AND you HATE the environment, these are for you!I was shocked when I opened this box to find them packed in styrofoam. I mean, c'mon, it's 2020! It's not an exaggeration to say that styrofoam (more technically, expanded polystyrene) is one of the worst things for the planet that we've created in recent time. It's not practically or functionally recyclable, and every bit of it ends up breaking down into smaller and smaller bits, and eventually end up in the ocean. Let's not forget that styrene (one of the key components in EPS) is listed as a suspected carcinogen by the EPA = and you know that they're already rather conservative in such listings.Getting back to what came with the magnets, I found it a little odd that there was nothing besides the magnets and the styrofoam. No instructions, no branding . . . nothing! There was no indication of manufacturer or brand, or even origin, on the magnets themselves, or even on, in, or around the box, other than "Made in China" on the nondescript label. (see attached photos.) I mean, yeah, they're magnets . . . we learned what they do when we were 4 years old, but especially given all the complaints you read in other feedback, you might think at least a slip of paper with a warning/suggestion or two might be warranted. As far as magnets are concerned, they're super strong, but that's all I can say, and maybe that's all you need to know and all you care about.Oh, they arrived in less-than-perfect condition. Since the packaging (that evil foam) was undamaged, I can only presume it was a manufacturing/handling deficiency.

Pros
  • Made from high-quality neodymium material
Cons
  • The magnets may not be strong enough for some applications
