Review on Seagate Cheetah 15K.7 300 GB SAS 6 Gb/s Internal Bare Drive: High Performance, 15000RPM, 16MB Cache by Benjamin Robinson

These rims (if NEW as advertised) are really great rims. Most of my servers use these 300GB drives or the 600GB model. Performance is fantastic and they are reasonably reliable. Highly recommended if you can find them NEW. So here is my review of what I ACTUALLY got from (IB Tech). 2 RECOVERED disks were received with a large number of hours on the device. I have used refurbished Seagate certified drives and factory certified drives extensively in my career. When you return a failed drive to Seagate that is still under warranty, you will typically receive a refurbished drive. Although some of these drives still work for a long time, many of them have a much shorter lifespan. (Because they are NEEDED). I've never noticed any speed or performance issues with refurbished drives, but I've had many refurbished drives that last less than 1 year or get very noisy, indicating a problem in the near future. The warranty for a refurbished product is also not the same as for the original. While these drives are fantastically NEW, I do not recommend buying them "refurbished". If you buy them here, you may get refurbished rims. You can verify the discs you will receive by reading the label on the top left. It says "Certified Repair" or "Recertified Product". However, I have to give 1 star due to flaws in Amazon's rating system. Revain wants reviews to reflect the product advertised, but I believe that a review should relate to the product you WILL OR CAN GET and the overall experience you can expect when you place that order. While AD deserves 5 stars, the overall experience here was 0 stars. A 5 star rating would mean it is a good product and people should place an order for this item, which is SIMPLY NOT TRUE. This is a good item, but you SHOULD NOT ORDER IT HERE.
