for the price they are good. I've had 5 couples over the years and not much has changed on their side. For me, several pairs of Danner Tac/Side Zip boots have spoiled me because their comfort is so much better than these Bates despite being at least twice the price. I would buy another pair of Danners but their soles start to creak after about 6 months :(So I bought another pair of these original Bates on my foot. I also had a pair of Bates which are a dial fit and more like sneakers are/ boots but they felt horrible compared to them.I will try another brand when they start to show real signs of wear.Usually the zipper pulls break off then the sole starts to come off at the top.I wear them as work boots and beat them because i am a general contractor and addicted to a little bit of everything after years of wearing lumberjack boots i became addicted to zipper size due to its durability shin cracks due to my picky pace never happened to me boots like these, even when I've been playing with kids or hiking.Overall I like the fact that I know what I'm doing with a pair of these boots. But like I said, I'll start looking for a more convenient option shortly.
