I had never used a pocket screwdriver before buying this one so I started at the bottom of the learning curve. The instructions that come with the tool are minimal, so I looked up a few YouTubes, did a few experiments with the crowbar, and pretty much got it. It's a nice, well-made little tool that works, but it can be confusing to the uninitiated, and the tool itself won't help you much. Specifically, there are scales on either side of the device that correspond to the thickness of the material you're drilling into for the screw. A scale is for use on a 'loose' part where a small sliding 'edge' in a 'protruding' position is used to set the tool in place for drilling. The other scale is used when flipping the "edge" in the retracted position to drill a blind hole in an inside corner. Nothing in the tool can tell the user which scale corresponds to which condition. There are no markings on the instrument to tell which is which. If you know math or are familiar with the tool, this isn't a problem, but it's pretty easy to use the wrong scale if you're thinking of building something and aren't paying close attention to the tool. In case you're wondering, the side with the logo is the right scale for "free" items.
