THREE STARS PLUS

I had high hopes for this book, which took my early research to a lower level. It contains a lot of information for which I am sincerely grateful and very happy. However, there is room for improvement in the book. First, the cover features many different threads (inclusive) with no branding or anything EXCEPT for a section that contains patterns for several different garments. Most of these threads are unusual and beautiful; I would like to know more. In the patterns section, the patterns themselves for uninteresting things - maybe copyrighted? This section shows three different yarn options (in small pictures) and there is a lot of information there. But for the type of knitting I do (like many of my friends), the information, while helpful, doesn't apply to the types of yarn we use. The author mentions a part-time job as a lawyer and three almost grown children plus education. knitting lessons I suspect time has run out, so the book is quite a significant time investment, but it could use some significant changes. She did a great job on most of the book and achieved some of her goals, but I think a more detailed index, an index, some traditional patterns (Fair Isle, Scandinavian and Gansey for starters) and a full identification and characterization of the yarn pictured would be nice. . improve the book enormously. She gets 6 stars from me - well, 5 plus!
