Review on TRENDnet TK-401R Rack Mount πŸ”Œ KVM Switch with 4 PS2 Ports by Barton Perez

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good basic KVM server

If you have a small rack with more than 3 servers and need PS2 KVM connections, this is a great little box. It can be desktop or rack mount (supplied with rack mount kit) and you can add up to 4 machines. We use it in our parking rack and it has worked pretty well so far. It can be toggled with either a button or a combination of hotkeys. It has an external power connector, but this is not always necessary as the system will fall back to bus power when external power is not available. However, Trendnet should clarify that cables are NOT included and must be purchased separately. And I've seen some players complain about slow response times when playing games, but it seems clear to me that this system isn't designed for that. These are VGA and PS2. If you need a gaming KVM, get a DVI-USB KVM that is specifically advertised as gaming ready. This system is intended for moderate business use. If you buy a KVM, 4 cables and a power supply, you will only lose about $100. That's not bad at all for a small rack mount.

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • too stupid
