Great KVM switch for my purposes

I originally had a very very old no brand 4 port connected to a ConnectPro PR-14. It had worn switches and no key shift. Bought a Trendnet TK-401R to replace a worn switch. I didn't want to reroute/change cables to connect to an 8 port switch. It works great for me, the female VGA port connections were just what I needed. And 401R uses ScrollLock+ScrollLock+# to toggle and ConnectPro uses Ctrl+Ctrl+# so there are no compatibility issues here either. It's 9 years old and still works like new and

Pros
  • One year trial
Cons
  • Poorly thought out

Reliable unit but check cables before buying

This is a great unit with all connections on the back which makes cable management easier. It also has quiet audible feedback for hotkeys, which is better than my previous KVMs. However, I was surprised that it has four video ports for managed computers. My previous two KVMs had female connectors and they worked fine with my cables. Spending an extra $15 for 4 sex reassignment videos worked out well.

Pros
  • Large selection
Cons
  • Repair

Good 16-port at a great price

Great replacement for my old Belkin 8-port. ATTENTION, the VGA connectors on the back of this unit are FEMALE. So if you currently use VGA (MF) extension cables to go from your computer to your switch, you will need DB15HD male to male adapters. Belkin switches have male VGA ports. You may also encounter some compatibility issues. I have a machine with built in VGA (Intel) and it doesn't work with this switch. All other machines work, this one must have noise on the control wires, the switch…

Pros
  • Sleek design
Cons
  • Expensive insurance

Good basic KVM server

If you have a small rack with more than 3 servers and need PS2 KVM connections, this is a great little box. It can be desktop or rack mount (supplied with rack mount kit) and you can add up to 4 machines. We use it in our parking rack and it has worked pretty well so far. It can be toggled with either a button or a combination of hotkeys. It has an external power connector, but this is not always necessary as the system will fall back to bus power when external power is not available. However…

Pros
  • Decent performance
Cons
  • too stupid

Beautiful unit! on KVM switches

Very robust all-metal housing. Works perfectly. Small dot: The red (power) LEDs overshadow the currently selected system (green) LED. The sequence "Scroll-Lock, Scroll-Lock, Number" takes a lot of getting used to. Note. KVM supports the Monitor authentication protocol required by some systems. My previous KVM lacked this capability.

Pros
  • Good workmanship
Cons
  • Something is wrong

Decent KVM for the money.

We bought this KVM switch to manage a server room with 12 computers. The price was very attractive and it works very well. The keyboard and mouse work very well, and you can easily switch between computers using the control panel or keyboard shortcuts. However, we did notice some glitches in the video. Also, the cables for this device are very thick and working with excess lengths can be awkward, but once they're finally in place it's not a problem. Cables are sold separately in 15', 10', or 6'

Pros
  • Brilliantly done
Cons
  • Neutral
