I originally had a very very old no brand 4 port connected to a ConnectPro PR-14. It had worn switches and no key shift. Bought a Trendnet TK-401R to replace a worn switch. I didn't want to reroute/change cables to connect to an 8 port switch. It works great for me, the female VGA port connections were just what I needed. And 401R uses ScrollLock+ScrollLock+# to toggle and ConnectPro uses Ctrl+Ctrl+# so there are no compatibility issues here either. It's 9 years old and still works like new and I expect the quality of the Trendnet TK-401R to last the same or longer. Switches in KVM fail when using manual switching. And I really like the switch beep, none of my old KVMs have this feature. And the soft-touch buttons work great when used. Overall, I'm very happy with the Trendnet TK-401R so far. So if you have your own cables and connectors this should make you a great KVM product.
