Review on πŸ”§ Park Tool WH-1 Wheel Holder: Expert Solution for Secure Bicycle Wheel Work by Klassic Duncan

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works well with several issues.

Over the past few months I've used it a lot for various wheel maintenance jobs but I always love this tool, it works like a third pair of hands to hold the wheels while working on it. However, for the price, there are a few issues I've encountered: - The thru-axle stem needs to snap better into the key slot. The plastic thumbscrew always seems to loosen no matter how hard you tighten it (even with a wrench). - The thru-axle stem is not long enough to go all the way through the rear wheel on a 12x142 bike. Which is really frustrating because the wheel isn't fully supported by the tool and I feel like I'm going to damage the bearing. I can't believe they didn't lengthen the stem a few inches to properly support the rear hub. If there's no reason why I've overlooked a wheel that's too short? - I wish there was a way to lock the wheel on the thru axle shaft. When trying to mount the tire on the wheel in a vertical position, I often pull the wheel off the tool. The quick release skewers on my road bike do not go through the holes in the tool. That's usually fine, except when I need to work with the rear axle 'cassette out', which requires removing the QR and flipping it over. The little C-washer they give for use with quick release spindles is basically useless, but you can tighten the QR just enough for it to grip properly. It's only annoying when you've finished your task to open it all the way back up to put the wheel back on the bike.
