Review on 💾 8TB WD My Cloud EX2 Ultra Network Attached Storage - NAS - WDBVBZ0080JCH-NESN by Chase Steele

I originally gave it 4 stars; see below why I changed it. The product is an excellent NAS. It's easy to use and has a RAID1 option (so all data is backed up on 2 drives) so I bought this (I had a previous version with only 1 drive and that drive failed; it was a hassle to recover the data ! ). This newer version allows you to keep apps on the device (like antivirus and some other stuff) which is really nice. My only concern is that the unit I received (which came direct from Revain!) was a used one. How do I know? Because it was with a password, and when I removed the password (via manual reset) I found that users were assigned and data (movies and music) was written to disk. Now the drive is working fine, but I paid for a new device and didn't receive it. The only reason I didn't return it is because I brought it back to my home in Central America and it will cost me money to get it back from here, but that's wrong! If it wasn't for that, I would have given 5 stars. (not anymore; read on!) UPDATE: Well it's been less than 2 months and believe it or not the device is responding. Not sure if it's related to disks, software or anything else, but even accessing it by IP address is SUPER slow! I bet it's because I got a used block! Worse still, since I brought it overseas, I now have to pay international shipping to ship it back! UNBELIEVABLE! UPDATE 2: The device is very easy to set up and the Plex media server is great (if the device actually works). However, the device disconnects itself from the network about 3 times a week. He just disappears. And no, it's not the window as my TV doesn't see it as a server either. From what I've read, this is a common problem (I did NOT have it with my previous WD MyCloud device!) and I have yet to find the cause (it's not a hibernation or an IP change). I wish WD would fix the issue with their firmware updates, but alas, they still haven't fixed it! Don't waste money. The whole point of a NAS is being able to access it!
