I purchased this filament after reading previous reviews so I knew I was probably in for a wild ride. As you would expect, the thread was packaged in a hard, resealable plastic bag. At first glance, there was nothing wrong with that. The thread looked similar to other "silk threads" I've used in the past, although it felt "light". It's hard to explain, but I'm used to a very hard thread and somehow it felt easier. The original purpose of this thread was to reproduce the golden angel for the customer without having to sand/clean/paint the parts. Due to the desired size and build space for my Monoprice Maker Select, I had to cut it into several pieces to fit everything. I was sure that I could easily attach everything after printing. When a filament prints correctly, it prints beautifully. The mustard yellow mixed with the silk finish definitely gave a stunning result that the shopper loved. Unfortunately, this brilliance was achieved with great effort and much waste of time and thread. He is, as others have said, very fragile. I've found that anything smaller than the grid support just snaps off halfway through the print, leaving the success of the pieces to their fate. This often resulted in warped, pitted and illegible parts as the adhesion of the layers was very, very poor. The mesh supports mitigated the issues but left horrible scars on the parts that completely ruined the shine. However, what they get a 'silky' finish doesn't transfer to the threads, resulting in very dull, ugly spots where the supports meet or where they can be sanded down. Similarly, when used in a 3D pen, the resulting extrusion has no "silky" finish at all, making areas where you could use it to weld parts look matte. I think it's worth noting that after the ordered figure's head, arm, and horn were assembled, it flew a foot out of my hand and smashed my wrist, neck, and mouthpiece. The places where I expected it to break, such as B. in the welds of a 3D pen, weren't where it broke, but instead in random layers of print, regardless of thickness or infill. This is the first time I've dropped a piece, especially from such a small height, and it shattered into pieces. I was able to smooth out the layers with the tip of a 3D pen but was left with ugly, dull lines that stood out like a sore thumb. to find the secret temperature combination that will keep you running smoothly. Nothing seemed to make things smoother, tighter together, or better nourished. It ended up with both the nozzle and my 3D pen getting stuck, the latter suffering from the strain as it couldn't be disassembled into a heating element without breaking the plastic case and unsoldering the board. As I bought 1kg of this thread it will remain in my rotation primarily as a "draft thread" to check the size and shape of my models. I find that it prints well when the parts have a wide, flat base that tapers towards the top and requires no support, although the previous limitations remain. Anything thin that requires jumps or steep edges will suffer. Any thin pieces will likely break off. Difficult to iron, strangely bubbling in places and see through in others, even at 1.5mm in the top layers. I would like the quality of this yarn to be better, or another company that makes a nice mustard colored "silk" yarn. such a color. It pains me to say that I will never trust him with a definitive job and that I cannot in good conscience recommend him to anyone looking for fine "gold" straight out of bed.
