The pink stone that came with my Dremel sharpening set probably lasted a good 6 sharpenings (light touch ups, not much sanding). But it deformed badly, and frequent cleaning of the stone required a dose of carburetor cleaner. Since the local hardware store doesn't just sell pink stone separately, I looked here and stumbled across them, so gave it a try. Only used a few times so far on a 20" Echo but did the job perfectly and was comparable to a brand new pink stone. No working faster, no sharper teeth - it was almost the same as the new Dremelstein. But after that it seemed to me that it had the same grain/texture as when I started, the shape didn't change and it wasn't black with dirt that needed to be cleaned for the next use. So far it looks like it will last longer and more importantly it will not change shape with use and will not turn back to pink stones after use. Of course, keep the chain away from dirt or rocks. If you run the chain way past the tip it needs sharpening and it won't cut or clog it with some gravel, the Dremel type isn't the right tool. to bring it back. But only a few quick passes per tooth to keep it upright and sharp. so nice as you always cut the sharp chain and save a lot more time than it takes.
