I received a Grizzly Tools sharpener that came with some basic accessories - a guide bar and a clip for holding straight blades (chisels etc). I didn't have a special tool for sharpening knives. In this case, my results were poor, which is probably why the sharpener was given away in the first place. After purchasing this tool the results with the knives are MUCH better than what I could do just trying to maintain a stable hand angle with the guide bar. I'm still not good at making perfect edges on the curved ends of my knives, but hopefully it takes practice. I will also say that the different sizes available would be nice for this light but I will not be buying more. This size was good for all of our "medium" knives, but the holder is a bit wider for the smallest paring knives in our kitchen (can't sharpen at the right angle because the attachment is too thick). /big). All in all, I think any of the expensive water bath grinding wheel sets should include this (or an equivalent) as a must-have accessory. If you have a whetstone and your accessory doesn't include one, buy the one that works best with your blades.
