Works great: Hand Tools

This item holds the knife at the right angle for sharpening. It appears to be cast aluminum and is built fairly well. For more flexible knives there is another longer attachment. You can make mistakes if you don't hold the knife point perpendicular to the surface of the stone when you slide the knife over the stone. It helps keep your thumb on the knurled grip. In this case, my results were poor, which is probably why the sharpener was given away in the first place. After purchasing this tool the results with the knives are MUCH better than what I could do just trying to maintain a stable hand angle with the guide bar. I'm still not good at making perfect…

Pros
  • Power & Hand Tools
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
