Child proof railings were needed to block two adjacent flights of stairs. one goes up and one goes down. Bought additional panels to expand it into a "D" shape to allow enough room to get in and out of the stairs. Followed the installation instructions and everything worked. Very strong construction, pleasant to the touch for the child - no visible sharp edges. The gate is easy to open and close. I'm an engineer so I'm pretty picky about the design of the things I buy. This product gives me complete confidence. Just a note. the ivory color is really ivory, not white. It was a bit unexpected but actually blends better than pure white so we were very pleased. Someone asked a question how to remove the bar to extend the gate. A video has been added here to show it.
