Universal LED lighting

I don't have a canopy boat. Actually, I don't have a boat at all. I was looking for a battery powered LED light to illuminate the license plate on my Town Car's windshield and this product fitted the bill. This works very well for my purposes. I'm sure it will work well for its intended purpose, as well as many other uses that require a self contained light source. This product is not designed to illuminate a large reading area. It's designed to give you enough light to see what you're doing and where you're sailing on a small boat. My white signs are right in front of the light and shine brightly. The quality and design of the product is good. The only downside is that you have to unscrew 8 small Phillips screws to access the battery compartment. I don't have to do it often, but when I do it hurts a bit. This design probably helps with waterproofing, which isn't a big deal to me, but could be very helpful for a more outdoor-oriented use. It is difficult to estimate how long the batteries will last as the light is intended to be used intermittently as needed. I personally use it for about 10 minutes at a time. I'm guessing the battery lasts 2 or 3 hours, which isn't bad for three AAA batteries that power 9 fairly bright LEDs. Velcro straps at each end of the flashlight should provide a useful attachment method for many applications. For my purposes I removed the straps and used velcro dots to attach the light to the top of the dash.
