At first I thought that having so many USB inputs would result in little or no power consumption. I didn't need it to charge things, but I did need it to power things like my DVD player and my MIDI controller, and it really worked for all of that. I could plug in my external drives and RAM and they worked . What I didn't like was the short cable that plugged in and out of my USB connection. I had to use tape to secure the connection between the male and female parts. I also had to use a spring clip to hold it in place. A few inches more cable would have helped.
