I bought the S9 and recycling unit separately just because the S9+ was out of stock when I wanted to buy it. Power supply connected to the power supply - does not light up. Cable unplugged, plugged back in - does not burn. Changed sockets - no light. Nothing turned on. I tried a normal charging station, my S9 caught fire! Back to the recycling unit - there was a strange piece of string visible in the pins that looked pinched/worn. I don't know if it was a manufacturer defect or a return. Everything else seemed new, but the cable was to blame. Unfortunately, the normal charging box and the recycling box did not use the same cable. So instead of supporting iRobot or Revain I just paid $10 to replace the 2 pin power cord and thankfully it worked! So far, so good! The S9 takes a couple of hours for mapping and ran in vacuum for an hour and a half today before returning, dumping its contents and charging again. The recycling plant is definitely worth it! I also love that it automatically knows when it needs to be emptied, but I also have the choice to stop "working" and empty the S9 to the Trash via the app. Just make sure you have a working cable for it in advance and there are no other issues.
